Florence is on my top favorite European cities list for its rustic city color scheme, charming piazzas, and gelato all around. If you are looking for something leathery, Florence is definitely the place to look for that. You'll see leather stores and stands selling leather bags, wallets, and jackets. Just be smart about choosing good quality leather with a good bargained price! We were definitely surrounded by the right New Years spirit as we watched the fireworks by Ponte Vecchio bridge and hearing cheers and orchestra music all around. Although things did got a little too crazy with people smashing beer/wine bottles to the ground and jumping everywhere. Gotta remember to stay safe around these crowded holiday festivities!

We started our piazza-hopping day with heading to the Duomo. There you can visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and get a view at the top of Giotto's bell tower. Come back at night to find a bar to sit and enjoy a drink right in front of the Duomo, it's an experience to end the day.
Be sure to book tickets in advance for the Leonardo da Vinci Museum to experience da Vinci's masterpieces in person, as well as for Uffizi Gallery as one of Italy's top museums to visit. Plan extra days in Florence if you plan to spend your day in these museums!
Crossing the Ponte Vecchio Bridge, you can go explore the other side to Piazza Santo Spirito. Make a stop by Vivoli or Gelateria Badiani for a gelato break!
Taking a bus to Piazzale Michelangelo, you will find the best view of Florence on hill. This is another popular spot to celebrate New Years and see fireworks. There are also events like small concerts happening on the hill depending on time of the year.
